Casablanca. Greatest film of all time. Because it was about the greatest things. Life. Liberty. Freedom. It was how the small people, can face down the uniform authoritarian monster. And win. But it comes at a cost. A individual and collective one. Sacrifices have to be made. Choices have to be made. Decisions have to be made. And at the end of the day. When history is written the small people are forgotten. But they bear the brunt, the burden and the cost. Dont ever forget that.
Casablanca is so completely re-watchable. I still tear up a little at the 'Marseillaise' scene. So incredibly powerful, especially considering that many of the actors were European and the film was made at the height of the war.
Where would “The Third Man” rank? I know it’s set in post war Vienna, but it’s certainly a spy movie, or at least spy-movie adjacent to.
I haven’t watched it in a long while, but it was a very affecting film, and I’m not usually a film noir aficionado.
Don’t forgot Max Manus. ( I agree on Anthropoid and Flame and Citroen. )
I’d put ‘Where Eagles Dare’ in the top 3.
Imagine if Reagan had taken the part instead of Bogart.

And thank God Bogart did it not Reagan..
